About Tri Swim Club

Where triathletes go for structured swim training.

TRI Swim Club was created by Coach Zach “Ziggy” McGinnis, combining elite swimming experience with a structured, purposeful approach to swim training for triathletes at every level.

Why TRI Swim Club exists

Most triathletes are missing a key part of their training.

As I started working with triathletes, I kept seeing the same thing: sessions without structure, no clear progression, and no defined plan for speed or performance.

The effort was there. The direction wasn’t.

That’s where TRI Swim Club began, applying elite-level swim training to triathletes who had the drive, but not the system.

A better way to train

Structure changes everything.

TRI Swim Club was built to bring clarity and purpose to your swim training.

Every session has intent

Each week builds on the last

Every workout is designed to improve how you perform on race day

This isn’t about swimming more. It’s about training properly.

Structured swim training becomes the missing piece that unlocks your overall performance.

My Story

From underdog to elite performance

"I didn’t just learn how to swim fast. I learned how to build performance."

Coach and founder, Zach "Ziggy" McGinnis

The experience behind the system

My journey in swimming wasn’t typical.

Out of high school, I had already undergone two shoulder surgeries and was ranked as a one-star recruit, the lowest possible rating. I wasn’t expected to succeed.

So I took ownership. I studied the sport, refined technique, and learned how to train with purpose.

That process led to becoming an ACC Champion, NCAA All-American, and USA Olympic Trials Qualifier. At the end of my senior season I was named by the NCAA as one of the Most Improved Athletes for the Class of 2013.

Proven at the highest level

My approach has delivered real results across both swimming and triathlon.

Including coaching Abbas Karimi to two silver medals at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games and Joe Skipper to qualification for the 2026 Ironman World Championship in Kona.

But the goal has always been bigger than elite performance.

It’s about making that level of structured training accessible to more athletes.

A system designed for real performance

TRI Swim Club is built around a simple idea.

When your training has structure, progress follows. That’s what everything at TRI Swim Club is built around. Every program is designed with:

A focus on race-day performance

This isn’t swim training adapted for triathletes. It’s swim training designed specifically for how triathletes need to perform.

The goal of TRI Swim Club

Train with purpose. Perform with confidence.

Whether you’re new to structured swim training or chasing marginal gains, the goal is the same.

Train with clarity

Improve consistently

Perform when it matters

This is where better training turns into real performance.

Trusted by triathletes at every level.

Could not recommend the TRI Swim Club enough!

Ziggy was amazing at providing feedback on my technique and after implementing some of the drills he suggested, my stroke and speed in the water improved massively.

A Completely Different Approach and It Works

My speed is at a level I've never had before. I got out of the water feeling fresh, had a great T1, and it set up my whole bike. Now we're building toward Kona together.

Tri Swim Club completely changed my swimming. In six weeks I dropped 15 seconds off my 100 pace. Ziggy’s focus on technique and purposeful session structure makes every workout clear, progressive, and effective.

Structure that builds motivation

Even as a former college swimmer, it’s hard to stay motivated in the pool. Coach Zach provided the structure and guidance I needed to stay focused, improve my swimming, and complete my first 70.3.
